Match report for Green lane cc on 08/10/2006

Hi all,
it can only be described as a minor disaster really. Green lane put up £250 sponsorship and only 43 players turn up. A far cry from our normal 80 odd.
Somehow I don,t think they will be holding another. There would seem to be two problems. First it was a county weekend and about 10/15 of our regulars were involved. Secondly many of our players have already qualified while others have no chance of doing so. Our next tournament is Gala casinos who sponsor us quite heavily. If the turnout is the same we might be kissing that goodbye. This is followed by the Graham Collins memorial which deserves a good turnout as the man was a true gentleman. So come on you darters put
in an appearance.

The committee are going to have to look long and hard at this problem as the same happened last year towards the back end of the season. It might be that we have to give extra attendance points to those tournaments at the back end.

If you are reading this then you are on our new web site (no 3). It is already
much better than our old one and will get even better as Izzy and Mark
update it. Hopefully nobody will have any trouble logging on.Given time
I am sure it will be even better than the original hosted by the nameless one who left us high and dry.
Big kisses to Izzy and Mark. Well perhaps not Mark.

Enough of this foolishness, onto the main course.

In the blind pairs finals Mike Dennison and Mark Wainwright beat Craig Nelnes and Jamie Wilson 2/1 in 20/18 darts against 19.

1st singles semi- Brendon BJ Marren beat Brandon (Tetley) Walsh 3/0 in 21/24/16.
In his game before Brandon had defeated Darron Battye, no mean feat for anyone never mind someone so young. As I,ve said before a star of the future.

2nd semi- yours truly had a great battle with Jamie Wilson. Who I regard as the most improved player this season, just edging out 3/2 in 18/17/13 against 16/18.

The final saw me thoroughly thrashed 4/2 by BJ in 17/24/15/15 over 21/17

The furthest youth/lady was of course young Brandon. £25.

Three players hit a 140 checkout and shared £21. Jamie Wilson/John Utting/Darren Battye. Yours truly held the winning ticket £21.

Singles winner £100/runner up £50/semi x 2 £25/Qtrs x 4 £15.

Total payout £395.

See you at the oche
